Snapchat has unveiled a new feature called Imagine Lens, a text-to-image AI generator that allows users to create, edit, and recreate images using custom prompts. This new Lens is available exclusively to Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ subscribers, offering them innovative ways to personalize their Snaps.
How Imagine Lens Works
With Imagine Lens, users can simply type in prompts such as "create an image of a grumpy cat" or "turn me into an alien" to generate unique images. The tool also includes a selection of pre-set prompts like:
- "Turn me into a four to five panel comic where something unexpected but heroic happens."
- "Make me into a funny caricature."
- "Make this person skydive."
The prompts can be edited at any time by tapping the caption bar, allowing for endless creative possibilities. Once an image is generated, users can share it directly with friends, post to their Story, or even share it outside of Snapchat.
AI Technology Behind the Lens
Earlier this year, Snap introduced an AI text-to-image research model designed for mobile devices, which is set to power several of Snapchat’s AI features. While it hasn’t been confirmed if this is the exact model behind Imagine Lens, the company states that its Lenses are built using a combination of proprietary and industry-leading AI models.
