Roblox Introduces Short-Form Video, New AI Tools, and Boosts Creator Earnings

Roblox Rolls Out Short-Form Video Feed, AI Tools, and Creator Upgrades
Roblox, the popular online gaming platform, has unveiled a series of major updates at its annual Developers Conference. Among the highlights are a new short-form video feed for sharing gameplay clips, advanced AI tools to empower creators, and an increase in earnings for the platform's developer community.
Introducing "Roblox Moments": Share and Discover Gameplay Clips
Roblox is launching a TikTok-style video feed called Roblox Moments, now available in beta for users aged 13 and up. This feature lets players easily capture, trim (up to 30 seconds), edit, and share their favorite gameplay moments. Users can add music, write a description, and scroll through a community feed to watch, react to, or instantly join experiences showcased in the clips.

Roblox plans to gradually roll out this feature to fine-tune its content moderation processes. All shared videos will be reviewed, and users can report inappropriate content to help maintain a safe environment for all ages.
More Earnings for Creators
In a move to support its developer community, Roblox has increased its Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate. Now, 100,000 Robux can be exchanged for $380 (up from $350), representing an 8.5% earnings boost for creators. Roblox reports that the average revenue for a Top 1000 developer has nearly tripled since 2020, reaching close to $1 million annually.
Advanced AI Tools for Creative Freedom
Roblox is also rolling out new AI-powered tools to streamline the creation process and expand functionality:
- Generative Object Creation: Creators can now generate interactive 3D objects—such as cars and weapons—by simply typing prompts (e.g., "a sleek, futuristic red sports car"). The AI will produce a drivable, customizable asset.
- Real-Time Voice Chat Translation: Starting next year, voice chats on Roblox will be instantly translated between English, Spanish, French, and German, making global collaboration and play more accessible.
- Text-to-Speech & Speech-to-Text APIs: New APIs empower developers to add instant narration, character dialogue, and voice commands to games, boosting immersion and accessibility.

Performance and Fidelity Upgrades
Roblox is enhancing gameplay with a new "Server Authority" mode to reduce cheating and improve realistic physics. Avatars will soon move more naturally—running, climbing, and vaulting with realistic momentum and detailed hand interactions. The platform will also support higher graphical fidelity across devices without extra work for creators.
More Safety and Ratings Transparency
These updates come as Roblox expands its age-estimation technology and partners with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to introduce standardized content ratings for all games and apps on the platform. These changes aim to provide a safer, more transparent experience for users and parents alike.
What’s Next for Roblox Creators?
Later this year, Roblox will open new API-based tools, enabling developers to create custom in-game content feeds, highlight reels, and leaderboards for trending clips and achievements. These innovations further cement Roblox's commitment to empowering its vast creator community.
