In partnership with Samdesk and Weather.com, Nextdoor’s new alert system delivers real-time notifications about local incidents. The alerts use a "yellow" state for important updates and a "red" state for critical events, taking over the whole app interface to prioritize urgent safety information. Unlike broader alerts, Nextdoor’s geospatial platform ensures notifications are targeted specifically to affected users, even down to individual homes.
Faves: AI That Knows Your Neighborhood
Nextdoor’s "Faves" feature stands out by using a language model trained on more than a decade of neighborhood conversations. Users can ask for recommendations—like hiking spots for kids or the best local cafes—and receive AI-generated, summarized answers based on real neighbor discussions. Each summary links to the original posts for context and transparency.
Tolia highlights that this proprietary content is unique to Nextdoor and not available on search engines or other AI platforms, giving users access to genuine, hyperlocal word-of-mouth insights that can’t be found elsewhere.
