Meta Launches Global AI Voice Translation for Instagram and Facebook Creators

Meta Introduces AI-Powered Voice Translation for Global Creators

Meta has unveiled a new AI-driven voice translation feature for creators on Facebook and Instagram, making it easier than ever to reach international audiences. Announced on August 19, 2025, this innovative tool is now rolling out globally in all markets where Meta AI is available.

What Does the AI Voice Translation Feature Do?

Meta's new feature empowers creators to automatically translate their spoken content in reels between English and Spanish, with more languages planned for future updates. Notably, the AI preserves the creator's unique voice, sound, and tone, resulting in authentic and natural-sounding dubbed translations. An optional lip sync function aligns translated audio with the creator’s lip movements, making the translation even more seamless for viewers.

Who Can Access This Feature?

  • Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers
  • All public Instagram accounts globally (where Meta AI is available)

To use the translation tool, creators simply select “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before publishing a reel. They can toggle translation and lip sync options, preview the result, and make adjustments as needed without affecting the original content.

Enhanced Insights and Language Reach

Meta has also added a new metric in the Insights panel, letting creators track reel views by language. This helps creators understand how translated content expands their reach and informs future content strategies as more languages become available.

Best Practices and Additional Tools

  • Creators should face forward, speak clearly, and avoid covering their mouth while recording.
  • Minimal background noise or music is recommended.
  • The feature currently supports up to two speakers who should not talk over each other.

Additionally, Facebook creators can upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks per reel through the Meta Business Suite. This allows for both pre- and post-publishing translations and further increases content accessibility.

Looking Forward

Meta has confirmed plans to support more languages soon, though specifics have not yet been announced. The company emphasizes that these tools are designed to help creators cross cultural and linguistic barriers, boosting both global reach and engagement. Instagram head Adam Mosseri highlighted, “If we can help you reach those audiences who speak other languages, reach across cultural and linguistic barriers, we can help you grow your following and get more value out of Instagram and the platform.”

How to Manage Translations

Viewers will see a notice when watching a translated reel and can opt out of viewing translated content in specific languages via their settings.
