MarqVision Raises $48M to Scale AI-Driven Brand Protection
AI Startup MarqVision Secures $48M Series B to Tackle Global Counterfeiting
Counterfeiting is a massive and growing challenge for brands worldwide, with the illicit trade in fake goods now valued at over $3 trillion annually. This complex problem inspired Mark Lee, a Harvard Law graduate, to co-found MarqVision in 2021. The startup’s mission: harness artificial intelligence to help brands defend their intellectual property and recover lost revenue.
From Harvard Law to AI Innovation
Lee’s journey began in a trademark class at Harvard, where he was struck by the scale and persistence of counterfeiting—a problem that has only accelerated in the digital age. The COVID-19 pandemic fueled a significant rise in online counterfeits, with marketplaces and social media platforms making it easier than ever for bad actors to reach global audiences.
Recognizing the potential of computer vision, Lee and his team developed MarqVision to detect and remove counterfeit products at scale, evolving into a comprehensive AI-powered platform for brand protection and control.
Major Funding to Accelerate AI and Global Growth
In 2025, MarqVision closed a $48 million Series B round, raising its total funding to nearly $90 million. The round was led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA), with participation from Salesforce Ventures, HSG, Coral Capital, Michael Seibel of Y Combinator, and others.
- Approximately half of the new capital is earmarked for expanding MarqVision’s AI and engineering teams, with a focus on automating workflows and integrating generative AI.
- $10 million will help make the platform enterprise-ready, targeting larger brands.
- Another $10 million is allocated for regional expansion, including entry into Japan.
Already active in the U.S., Korea, China, and Europe, MarqVision’s global push reflects the borderless nature of intellectual property law.
AI-Driven Services: More Than Just Software
MarqVision’s platform goes beyond traditional software tools. As AI transforms service delivery, MarqVision is positioning itself as a leader in managed AI-driven services, helping brands not only detect and remove infringements, but also directly recapture lost revenue.
The startup serves more than 350 clients across industries including fashion, luxury, gaming, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, automotive, and consumer electronics. MarqVision has achieved remarkable growth, reaching:
- $1 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within eight months
- $10 million in ARR in just three years
- $20 million in ARR after four years, with annual doubling
Some clients report a 5% boost in sales after using the platform, underscoring its impact beyond legal teams and into core business operations.
The Future of Brand Protection and Intelligence
MarqVision’s vision is to become the backbone for every global brand that owns intellectual property. The company’s roadmap includes expanding beyond brand protection to offer intelligence on supply chains, pricing, and reseller networks.
"Our goal is $100M ARR by mid-2027," Lee shared. "Growth could have been faster, but we prioritized delivering the best customer experience and building a scalable AI-driven foundation. Everything ties back to helping global brands control their digital presence and grow revenue."
Investor Confidence in AI-Led Transformation
Services, once a less attractive sector for tech investors, are being redefined by AI. MarqVision’s success and rapid growth have attracted support from leading investors, positioning the company at the forefront of the AI-led services revolution for brand and IP management.
