D-ID Acquires Simpleshow to Expand AI Video Creation Capabilities
D-ID Expands Global AI Video Offerings with Simpleshow Acquisition
AI-powered video generation platform D-ID has announced its acquisition of Berlin-based B2B video creation company Simpleshow. This move marks a significant step in D-ID’s strategy to accelerate its presence in the enterprise video and digital avatar market.
What Does the Acquisition Mean?
While the financial terms weren’t disclosed, D-ID confirmed that Simpleshow’s platform will continue operating under its brand for now, with a full platform integration planned in the future. This merger will consolidate offices in Berlin, Tel Aviv, and the United States and bring the total employee count to 140.
- Simpleshow brings with it more than 1,500 enterprise clients, including global giants like Adobe, Microsoft, HP, and Deutsche Bank.
- The company has raised over $20 million in funding since its founding in 2008 and operates in multiple regions including Europe, the US, and Asia.
- D-ID has raised $60 million to date and confirmed it has secured funding for this acquisition.
Why Simpleshow?
According to D-ID CEO Gil Perry, Simpleshow initially approached D-ID for a collaboration. The companies quickly recognized the synergy between their management teams and product lines. "We felt that we needed to increase our speed in capturing a large part of the enterprise avatar video market. We thought acquiring Simpleshow would give us the necessary boost," Perry explained.
Simpleshow CEO Karsten Boehrs shared that the company’s pivot from agency services to a SaaS platform began years ago, with early adoption of text-to-video tools and a focus on international scaling. The recent surge in AI-driven video creation made D-ID’s technology and market position an ideal fit for Simpleshow’s continued growth.
Future Plans: Interactive AI Avatars and Training Videos
Both companies see a robust future for digital avatars in enterprise video—spanning training, marketing, and sales. D-ID’s current suite of AI interactive avatars will be enhanced by Simpleshow’s technology and customer base. The roadmap includes developing interactive training videos where users can engage directly with avatar presenters by asking questions or taking quizzes in real time.
Competition and Market Outlook
The market for AI-generated video and digital avatars is heating up. D-ID faces competition from players like Synthesia and Soul Machines, as well as tech giants like Google and McKinsey, who are investing heavily in avatar-based solutions for business communication and training.
What’s Next?
With Simpleshow’s technology and established enterprise clientele, D-ID is poised to accelerate its product development and move closer to profitability. The combined expertise and resources are expected to help D-ID deliver more interactive, human-like video experiences for businesses worldwide.
